Admissions

Reception Admissions

To apply for a place at our school applications must be made direct to the Local Authority.

Reception places in all Peterborough Infant and Primary Schools are allocated by the Local Authority, using their agreed over-subscription criteria.  Information regarding the applicaiton process can be found on the Peterborough City Council website: https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/residents/schools-and-education/school-admissions/

You are required to choose up to three schools in the order of your preference. Every effort will be made to offer your child a place in your first choice of school.  In the event that is not possible because that school is full, the website also gives information about how alternative offers are made and your rights of appeal.

The deadline for submitting applications varies from year to year but is usually in the middle of the January of the year of entry.  You will be told of your child's allocation of a place in April.

As part of the school admissions process, you will be asked to provide proof of the following:

  1. Proof of where you (the parent / carer) live
  2. Proof that the child lives with you (the parent / carer)
  3. Proof of the child’s date of birth.

A list of acceptable forms of proof can be found below. The offer of a school place is conditional until this proof has been confirmed by the school.

Nursery Admissions

We are lucky to have an education nursery class attached to the school, one of only five in the City. Admission to the Nursery is for children who are three by the first of September in the year of admission. Places are part time and are free of charge. Sessions are for five days a week and for 3 hours per day, during school term time.

The closing date for initial allocations is April 30th before the September of the admission. Places are allocated from the waiting list in the first week of May by the following criteria:-

1.     Children in the care of the Local Authority ('Looked After Children')

2.     Children with special educational needs referred by the pre-school agencies

3.     Children living in the school's catchment area

4.     Children living out of the catchment area who will have brothers or sisters here or at St. Augustine's Junior School at the time of admission

5.     Children living outside the catchment area by nearness to school

To make an application, please collect a form from the school office.

Please note that a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the school.

Junior School Admissions

Children move on to Junior School in the September following their seventh birthday and you will need to make an online application for a place in the same way as for Reception places. Most of our children transfer to St. Augustine's Church of England Junior School which has its own admission form and policies. We liaise closely with the Junior School to ensure a smooth transition.

Visits by prospective parents are welcomed by both schools. Please ring to arrange an appointment to look round or to discuss any aspects of admissions, including mid-year transfers. Please ask at school for any further information or clarification.
