Starting Reception 2020

Dear parents and carers,

We are continuing with arrangements for September, in the hope that school is returning to normality by this time.

Due to the current restrictions surrounding Coronavirus, we will be unable to invite you and your child to visit this term. We will be taking this into account when we plan transition arrangement for September, and hope that you will be able to visit together, before their official ‘start date’.

Hopefully you have received your ‘welcome pack’ including:

  • starting school book to read with your child. You may want to read this now, or keep it safe for a few weeks and share it with them later in the summer as it is still almost 3 months until they start school! – you will know what’s best for your child
  • our school brochure – this includes information about all aspects of our school including, term dates, uniform, school meals, start and finish times and medication
  • a leaflet about ordering uniform from Nationwide School Uniform, our school supplier of t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. with the school logo on. You do not have to buy these – plain uniform from local stores is also fine
  • a leaflet about the Cool Milk scheme if you would like your child to have milk every day in school (this is free until their 5th birthday)
  • a Pupil Information Form that needs completing to share all the important information about your child with us
  • a Consent Form where you give permission for wider school activities
  • a Home-School Agreement, that you need to read and sign so that you understand how we will work together

What you need to do now

  1. Read all the information in your welcome pack.
  2. Complete the Pupil Information form, the Consent form and Home-School Agreement.
  3. Deliver them back to us at school by Wednesday 1st July – there is a letter box in the lobby if you are able to hand deliver, or you can post it.

As written in your offer letter from Peterborough Local Authority, your child’s place is still conditional, based on you providing the documentation from the list supplied in that letter. We will need evidence of where you live (2 pieces), proof that your child lives with you and proof of your child’s date of birth. We will ask you to provide this in September, when you first visit. We will also have book bags and badges for sale then and ask that you do not visit the office for this reason until then.

Starting school is an important time for every child and their family and I am sure you have some worries and questions, particularly as you are not able to visit school and meet us for now. Please get in touch with Mrs Reynolds in the school office by phone or email if there is anything that we can help with, that isn’t included in the welcome pack.

We will do our best to keep you as informed as possible and will write to you again before the end of August, with dates and times for visits to meet the class teacher and the date for your child to officially start school. These plans will be informed by current government guidance, and best practise for transition for young children.

I look forward to seeing both you and your child and welcoming you to our school, as soon as it is safe to do so.

Yours sincerely

Miss Becky Thompson

Headteacher
